46 second video shows where tropical/Amazon hardwoods are used in NYC

-----
Did you know NYC is the largest consumer of tropical hardwoods in North America?

Good news: NYC/activist friends of mine, including the legendary JK Canepa, have done great work working with NYC officials to help reduce consumption.

Back in the spring, they posted this great 46 second video which gives you the NYC landscape:

(Alfred Hitchcock moments: watch for fleeting shots of JK, and wife Doris)

Things have changed for the better since the video was posted:

- New park benches are being made with different materials, including  recycled plastic lumber (RPL)
-  Staten Island Ferry Terminals has commissioned a $10M study for alternate materials
-  Bill to ban tropical hardwoods for subway and track ties will be introduced
- NYC Parks and Recreation will stop using tropical timber for the Coney Island boardwalk.
