Neli and Noelia were right: Most Peruvians fed up with bullfighting
If you've already seen Soy Andina, you probably recall the bullfight protest scene, when Nelida and her sister Noelia protest the killing of the bulls at the Llamellin bullfight the year we filmed. Now blogger Barbara Drake (An American in Lima) as published a story on the same theme in the Miami Herald.

Thanks for posting the link to my Herald story, Mitch. The debate over bullfighting is really just getting started in Peru. Younger people (mainly college students)are spearheading the movement in Lima, but most of the capital city is either apathetic about the issue or still supports the tradition.
If readers are curious about the organizers of the antitaurino (antibullfighting) movement in Peru, they can good "Peru Antitaurino," which is the name of an alliance that organizes protests and public awareness campaigns. They have a Spanish-language website.
Peru Antitaurino is just beginning to stage protests in the provinces, where bullfighting is deeply entrenched in local fiestas patrias. Between 400 and 1,000 bullfights are held each year in the provinces, with about 6 bulls killed per corrida (bullfight). These corridas are dedicated to various saints and Virgins / Mary figures.
