hi, my fiancee (who is peruvian) has shown me this clip a while back. i'm a filipino who's culture is also deep-rooted in folk dancing. i always get excited when i see folk dancing as there is so much to learn! i really have to commend the team in putting the film together as it really looks good even as a demo. i cannot wait to see your final result!
hola la verdad es que yo no se hablar ingles por el simple echo de vivir en españa, pero un dia descubri esta pagina y desde ese momento me llamo la atencion sobre todo cuando vi el reportage de dos chicas............

I finally got to view the trailer. I couldn't view the old trailer on my old PC but it has been so worth the wait! It took my breath away. It truly touches my heart as a Peruvian - Australian and one who, like Cynthia, strongly connects with Peruvian dance and has a deep rooted desire to also learn to dance those beautiful folkloric dances... I so look forward to seeing the movie.
I think the clip was absolutely touching. Its artistic and beautiful. I can totally relate to both women because I feel deeply rooted to the folk dances and have been looking all over in New Jersey to find places to continue learning Marinera Nortena and Festejo. Unfortunately, as a college student, classes can be expensive and with tuition on your back, it makes things worse. I can not wait for the film. Best wishes.
hola I'm andino from peru huancayo,I want download his film.I have try but i see any have this papachada film.wher came this papachada movi out in the cinema.BUY ANDINOS
I am a Peruvian folk dancer myself, who has danced in Peru for more than 20 years. I began making my documentary and for personal and economic reasons I had to stop. I focused on southern dance (Puno, Cusco, Arequipa, Tacna and Moquegua)I am deeply thankful with the people who is making "soy andina" possible. You guys are doing a great job. I cannot wait to see the documentary. Please notify me when this will be in the theaters.
This film looks amazing. I was lucky enough to stumble across your website on a search for Peruvian musicians for my upcoming wedding in Piura. I look forward to seeing this movie available for purchase online!
hi, i just wanted to say that this documentary is great. i can't wait to see the film. i also have a similar story. its so important to know where you came from. Know the place you were born and your culture really helps you understand who you are. i am also peruvian. i was born in trujillo, peru and came here when i was 6. i am now 20. i really struggled to find out who i was until i visited peru. i always felt like something was missing. After i spent a 3 month period there and it helped fill the hole that had been there. i had a very happy childhood in peru and i have always held on to my peruvian roots very strongly but i still needed to go back and really know the place where i was born. i still go back there as often as i can. Everytime, i find something new about myself and it really gives me a peace of mind. Now i understand why i am who i am. i'm so happy someone decided to do a project like this. peru is so unique, and the culture is amazing. i can't imagine being from anywhere else. I think this this documentary is so inspirational to people with different backrounds struggling to find themselves here in the united states. There is no ONE culture here and it's easy to get lost when you don't know or understand the place you came from. Thank you so much for making this documentary.
I loved it! I wish we could see the movie where I live, way far in North Idaho! I also dance folk dances (marinera punenia specially) and this clip brought me back to the land I love and miss so much. I ended up crying! Thank you and congratulations!
Hi Mitchell! Thank you for responding! It is the first time I post a comment and get a response. Idaho has some Peruvians down in Boise, and there are like 5,000 Peruvians in Salt Lake City ( it is close to Boise). But in North Idaho where I live there is not much of a diverse population. I only know of about 5 or 6 peruvian people around here. Nevertheless, there is a growing Latin population, 2% now, and the subject of the movie is something that all of them could relate. The University and the local college are big in promoting diversity and multiculturalism. I have done some presentations about Peru for them and made some Peruvian food as well as presentations of marinera punenia. I made my own outfit and adapted the materials I found here to recreate the traditional manton and pollera typical of the marinera in Puno. I have made it my mission to make our culture known at least a little bit around here. I have three kids that can relate completely to the movie. We are planning a trip to Peru for them to be able to really know where they come from and be even more proud of it. I taught them all to dance marinera punenia before coming from Peru ten years ago and now the youngest dances with me here every time I have a presentation! Congratulations again and keep up the excellent job!!! Thank you so much! - Rosario
Me encanto el clip, aunque yo me identifico con Nelida, quizas mis hijas q' ahora estan pequeñas algun dia se identifiquen con Cynthia. I can believe this story was adapted from real Life, I myself always go back to Peru, I have enjoyed and participated in Fiestas Costumbristas most of my life. I hope that my daughters that were born in USA, follow some how my traditions and same like me, get to appreciate their Rich Culture.... I really wish to see this movie some day.. well, when it's finished.
Yovi, muchas gracias por compartir tus reaciones! Yes, you have described the pattern -— most immigrants or folks our age relate more to Nelida, the younger 1st/2nd generation Americans more to Cynthia, and that is to be expected and great. Something for everyone. I believe the film has already inspired a lot of younger people to get more interested in their parents homeland - our ladies make it so "cool" to do so!. Oh, and the movie is finished, Feb 16 in NYC. But we will show it other places and later this year release a DVD. - Mitch
I can't wait to see this film!!!
I grew up in Chepen and Trujillo in northern Peru and took Marinera classes at a church when I was very little. I would love for my daughter to learn to Marinera. The trailer makes the dancing look beautiful! Felicidades!
